CINEMINI
We introduced two spatial interventions, Cinemini and The Passive Shop, at Singapore's Paya Lebar Quarter Mall. These mobile modules not only entertain shoppers but also hold revenue potential for mall tenants by repurposing vacant retail spaces. Each module uniquely incorporates Peranakan design elements, paying homage to local culture. By creatively utilizing units typically closed off with standard hoarding, Cinemini and The Passive Shop offer inventive alternatives for otherwise empty commercial spaces.
Cinemini, a compact cinema, showcases trailers from the Shaw theatre on the PLQ Mall's upper floor. Adorned with American-style billboards featuring Shaw's signature blue color scheme and lights, the module creates an immersive cinematic experience. Arranged in a circle around movable seating, the billboards project footage onto one of them, transforming unused spaces while enhancing the mall's overall appeal. This initiative not only redefines retail spaces but also enriches the shopping experience with a unique cinematic touch.
