This project is for a competition to design an Indian heritage museum in Singapore.
The aim of the concept was to create a building that houses all aspects of the brief with a unique look quoting from Indian culture. One good example is the main facade which has stairs connecting the different levels. These stairs are ordered in such a way that they refer to the famously stepped wells of Rajasthan in India. A local Singaporean Indian artist was asked to do the mural painting.

PLACEMAKING
FROM DIRT TO DIAMOND
SINGAPORE [SG]
The installation ‘FROM DIRT TO DIAMOND’ is an interactive object that takes its inspiration from the early days of animation, the Praxinoscope. The mirrors of the Praxinoscope are shaped into a giant diamond. this diamond will not only reflect the images of the animation, but also mirror the lights lighting up the animation. This will create a mirrorball like effect on its surroundings.
The animation on display will be created by a Singaporean cartoonist upon selection from the local talent pool provided by Cartoon Underground.
The installation will invite people to operate the Praxinoscope manually by rotating a handle, which in turn rotates the mirror diamond. The lights lighting up the animation and mirror diamond will be solar powered.
