This project is for a competition to design an Indian heritage museum in Singapore.
The aim of the concept was to create a building that houses all aspects of the brief with a unique look quoting from Indian culture. One good example is the main facade which has stairs connecting the different levels. These stairs are ordered in such a way that they refer to the famously stepped wells of Rajasthan in India. A local Singaporean Indian artist was asked to do the mural painting.

This project is the extension of a family home. The client initially wanted the extension to be on the side of the house. We were able to convince them to exploit the highlight of the site which is the fishpond.
With respect for and without damaging the thatch roof a volume is placed. It matches the height of the roofs ‘frinch’ at the back facade. A glass ‘belt’ attaches the new volume to the old, which allows for views in both directions between the structures. The axis coming from the existing living room ends into a jetty hoovering above the pond where the owner can feed his fish.
In keeping with the existing living room the new volume is sucked 300mm into the ground. This creates a humbled view from amongst the plants.
